Title: An early morning, the sun is rising, reflecting in the Vesterelva River in Fredrikstad

It is a quiet moment before the city wakes up. The Vesterelva River lies wide and deep blue, like a mirror for the sky’s dawning day. The sun has just begun to show its first light on the horizon, casting a gentle glow between the contours of modern apartment buildings and the older warehouses with gables facing the water.

The lights in the windows still shimmer, like stars that hesitate to go out. On the left side, the old sea shanties stand close together, bathed in warm tones from the street lamps, while the other side reflects the city's newer face – tall buildings in steel and glass, sleek and urban, but soft in the morning light.

Between the banks the river flows quietly – dark in the depths, but clad in blue and silver on the surface. A small group of ducks bob peacefully in the water, like living brushstrokes on a blank canvas. Far away the church tower can be glimpsed, and the air is saturated with silence, as if the whole city is holding its breath before the first cup of coffee and the first step of the day.

This is Fredrikstad at dawn – a city that reflects both what it has been and what it is becoming, in a river that always flows – and always remembers.
