Kirpisjari in Northern Finland – it is dark, the sun does not rise above the horizon, with temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius

In the Arctic winter landscape, Kirpisjari rests in a silence that only the dark season can bring. The cold bites deeply, an icy veil of minus 40 degrees that settles over snow-capped hills and frost-covered trees. But on the horizon, a pastel-colored light spreads gently across the sky – an illusion of sun, even though it never reaches the horizon.

A lone, gnarled tree stands in the foreground, shrouded in ice and rime. Its branches stretch towards the frozen sky, as if trying to grab hold of the light before it fades away again. Behind it lies a landscape of snow-covered expanses, a world of white and blue, where time seems to stand still in the grip of winter.

This is the magic of the dark ages – a time when the sun remains hidden, but the sky still paints its own poetry. A silence that is not only heard, but felt. Here, in the realm of cold, nature is both relentless and infinitely beautiful.
